Fun activities that will burn your dog's energy

Is your dog feeling hyper or restless? Here's some fun things to tire them out.

Get In Touch

Here's a few ideas for things that you can do with your dog at home to keep them happy & stimulated - and hopefully tire them out a bit.

Hunt the treat

Many dogs love to hunt but that doesn't necessarily mean chasing rabbits & squirrels in the woods, searching and finding treats around the home is also fun.

If your dog is used to always going to their bowl to eat, it might take a bit of time for them to get used to the idea of having to look around for their kibble/treats, so don't expect them to understand this game first time.

Throw some kibble nearby for your dog, so they see it, say "find it!" and praise them when they do. Once they get the idea you can make the game tougher by hiding the treats when they are not in the same place.

The smellier the treat, the better, they'll be using their noses to find, so if you've hidden the treat well they need to be able to smell it to find it.

Treat puzzle

Our dogs love this game. Take an old bath towel and lay it out flat on the floor. Spread a small amount of kibble or treats across the towel and then roll it up tight, so that all the treats are caught up inside.

You can place the rolled up towel on the floor and let your dog work out how to get the treats inside. For a harder task, you can lightly knot the towel after its rolled up to make it harder to get into.

As with the hunting, your dog may not be used to having to work for food so it might take them a few goes to understand what to do.

Learn a new trick

Dogs love to learn, but only if there's a benefit for them!

Learning a new trick can be an exciting and rewarding experience for your dog. They love to spend time with you, they love to make you happy & and they love to get treats.

A bit of training every day will tire your dog out, keep them mentally stimulated & engaged and, of course, make them a better behaved pet.
